Born in County Mayo, Ireland, Thomas Forde has spent a significant proportion of his life on one side or the other of bars the world over.

His appreciation of fine ale is second to none, and a thirsty patron could do worse than to seek Thomas's advice when selecting a drop after a long day's work.

A 'capitalist with a social conscience', Thomas is more than willing to join - or more likely, to initiate - a good political debate, after which even the most highly astute political observer can be sure to leave the bar totally confused.

On a serious note, Thomas is committed to Auckland City, and will stand as an independent candidate in the 2008 New Zealand General Election.

He continues to work on 'bringing the heart back into the city' and promoting more volunteering in the community.

Thomas manages the bar himself most of the time, and is always ready to listen to the views and priorities of Auckland Central constituents.
